CSAVR collaborates with a variety of partners and stakeholders in vocational rehabilitation. CANAR, the Consortia of Administrators for Native American Rehabilitation, is a key partner in public VR. The 81 programs that provide vocational rehabilitation services to Native Americans and Alaskan Natives are funded under the Rehabilitation Act, Title 1 and are responsible for providing VR services to Native individuals living on or near reservations or villages. In some situations, VR services are provided to Native people through a collaborative relationship between public VR and Native American VR programs.
CANAR is the membership organization of the administrators who serve Native Americans and Alaskan Natives. More information is available on the CANAR website at: http://www.canar.org. Attached is a description of CANAR and the contact list for the administrative office and officers is listed below:

Mission
The Consortia of Administrators for Native American Rehabilitation
(CANAR) serves as an avenue for collaboration and cooperation between
Administrators of rehabilitation agencies serving American Indian and
Alaska Native persons with disabilities to enhance the quality of
services,
resulting in positive employment outcomes.
CANAR’s purpose is to:
Provide a forum for administrators of Native American rehabilitation
and to study, deliberate, and act upon matters affecting rehabilitation
services to Native American persons with disabilities.
- Provide resources for the formulation and expression of collective points of view of administrators for Native American rehabilitation and to disseminate these views to service providers, related facilities, companies, and concerned citizens.
- Provide a means of communication with related organizations and governmental bodies.
- Conduct and support research which leads to an improvement of rehabilitation services for Native Americans with disabilities.
- Conduct and support efforts to increase the number of Native American practitioners in Vocational Rehabilitation.
