The national network of the 80 public Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) programs supports a united or “one company” approach to working with business customers. The 80 VR Directors have each named a business consultant that functions as the designated point of contact for their agency. These 80 points of contact, through CSAVR leadership and support, form the National Employment Team or The NET. The NET vision statement: To create a coordinated approach to serving business customers through a national VR team that specialized in employer development, business consulting and corporate relations.
The NET supports a dual customer base, meeting the employment needs of business through the qualified applicants and support services provided by the public VR system. Why dual customer? Because the VR programs are funded to serve individuals with disabilities but their employment outcomes are tied to business. VR consumers receive better career planning and employment supports when VR works with business customers to better understand their needs and expectations.
The dual customer approach provides the following benefits to customers of the CSAVR sponsored-NET:
- Business has direct access to a pool of qualified applicants and the support services provided b the public VR system and their partners;
- VR consumers have access to national employment opportunities and career development resources; and
- VR agencies have a national system for sharing employment resources, best practices and business connections.
